Club NightWell boys and girls I have had a reply from the council finally about the injustice I highlighted over club night charges. In essence, my argument was that Sunday night should not be 'peak rate'. There is no 'peak demand' for courts on a Sunday evening. Indeed, the management had admitted at an earlier committee meeting that, if not for club night, the courts would not be sold and the centre would probably close. In effect, the club is creating its own conditions of 'peak demand' by being there!
The council's line is that, by reducing the court rate to off peak, it would 'seriously affect the centre's income' and would open the door to other groups to do the same. Wayne worked out that the difference is about £6 over the course of the evening. If this constitutes a serious dent in the centre's finances, we should all be concerned, I feel.

As we only book clubnight once a week, it's £6 a week, that's £300 a year.
Significant to us as it's about 25% of our annual disposable income, but as far a the Centre is concerned it's 0.00?% of their income.
